Women working in logistics

For a long time, the Supply Chain and Logistics industry was heavily dominated by men. It can be difficult for women to enter the industry and once there, be well represented. This, however, is changing. The Logistics and Supply Chain industry is becoming more and more diverse, with the number of jobs within the sector expected to grow by 22% by 2022, this opens up hundreds of opportunities for women in the industry.

The logistics world offers increasing opportunities for women, with over 30% of positions within the Supply Chain currently held by women. Over 37% of all logistics related graduates are women, with this number continuously rising, and of the top-level supply chain positions, 5% are held by women.

Since 1979, the number of women working in the logistics sector has risen by a huge 55% and is still on the rise, this is a huge step for women in the logistics world. Jobs in the logistics sector can range from anything from shop floor to CEO, and having more women in every stage of the career ladder is hugely important to getting more women into Supply Chain and Logistics roles.

At Go Supply Chain, we are dedicated to having a diverse work force and have supported women working in logistics in any way we can.

It has been proven than companies within the top quartile for gender diversity are 15% more likely to have returns above their respective national industry medians – another reason why having women in the logistics and supply chain industry is a step in the right direction!
